Our Bitterleaf Soup is a timeless Nigerian delicacy rooted in the rich culinary traditions of the Igbo people. Bold, earthy, and deeply comforting, this soup is a staple that has graced family tables and festive gatherings for generations.
We prepare ours the authentic way — fresh bitter leaves, carefully hand-washed and squeezed to draw out just the right level of bitterness, then slow-cooked in rich red palm oil with a wholesome blend of crayfish, ogiri (locust beans), and aromatic seasoning. Cocoyam paste is added to achieve that thick, velvety consistency that makes every spoonful rich and satisfying.
Loaded with tender cuts of beef, goat meat, stockfish, and dried fish, the soup delivers layers of deep, complex flavor with every bite. The slight bitterness of the leaves balances beautifully against the richness of the palm oil base, creating a harmony of taste that is truly unique.
Served with your choice of swallow — eba, fufu, pounded yam, or wheat — our Bitterleaf Soup is a full, nourishing meal that warms the body and feeds the soul.
Best enjoyed with pounded yam or eba for the full traditional experience.
